cb750 630 to 530 conversion

Early CB750's use 530 (#50) type chain as stock size. I'm looking to convert the 630 to 520 on my 78k cb750. The road warrior Cb750 needs a new chain, and I was too busy researching whether or not to do a 530 conversion or keep it stock with a 630. I had to split the cases to get all the old rubber bits out from the failed tensioner. Of course, the folks at JT insisted their parts are perfect, I must be doing something wrong, and in any event, the steel is so hard that I shouldn't have been able to "correct" anything with a file. ;-). Not a single bike I have is on the road. I read that I might need a spacer in a 630-530 conversion, so I assume the same might apply hear.
